John O’Hara Horsley serves as our Vice President, Legal and Human Resources, General Counsel & Secretary. Before joining Soft Machines in January 2011, Mr. Horsley worked as an independent management consultant, advising Soft Machines and other clients about competitive strategy, intellectual property, and compliance matters. Mr. Horsley previously served as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary at Transmeta Corporation, where he worked from July 2000 through the acquisition of Transmeta by Novafora, Inc., in January 2009. From November 1997 to July 2000, Mr. Horsley served at the Federal Trade Commission in appointed positions within the Bureau of Competition, most recently as Chief Counsel for Intellectual Property and Technology Matters. From October 1988 to October 1997, Mr. Horsley practiced law with Pillsbury Madison & Sutro, where his practice focused on litigation and strategic counseling in competition law, intellectual property and stockholder matters. Mr. Horsley holds a B.A. in Philosophy and a B.A. in English from the University of Utah, and a J.D. from the University of California at Berkeley.
